Western Mining Limited concessions in Ghana are shown in the figure below.
Western Precious Metals occupies a 10 to 20 km wide zone along the axis of Tarkwa Bankyem Basin located equidistant between and Tarkwa Nsuem Belt to the west. The geology of Tarkwa belt is typified by Birimian sediments, minor granitic intrusions and mafic igneous rocks. The lithological units are cut by steeply north-west dipping primary and secondary structures. It is this structural and geological architecture that have been important in the localisation of gold mineralisation, and possesses the capacity for enhance fluid flow forming major alteration-ore bearing gold systems. These are similar controls of mineralisation to the gold deposits on the western Greenstone Belts. The major difference between the belts is the maturity of exploration. Western Belt is underexplored and is gaining a reputation as an emerging gold belt as more gold deposits are discovered.

Western Mining Limited has consolidated one of the largest concession packages in Ghana with the amalgamation of the Esaase and Obotan gold projects. This semi-contiguous package of concessions spans 30km of Western Mining Limited. The belt is underexplored, and only limited work has been undertaken with a holistic view of the regional prospectivity.
Western Mining Limited has elected to complete a prospectivity mapping study over the concession portfolio. The study has been designed to provide a holistic and integrated understanding of the prospectivity within the western Belt and with the final product being a predictive model enabling the targeting of the most propective ground. This will provide a platform for the development of future exploration programs to unlock the potential of this major ground position in Ghana.

The prospectivity mapping study consists of several work programs:
Stage 1 – Building a geological framework and conceptual are deposit model
Stage 2 – Prospectivity modeling
Stage 3 – Exploration targeting and strategy
Stage 4 – Data and knowledge transfer to the Western Mining Limited exploration team

Completion of the prospectivity mapping study will provide a framework for near mine and regional exploration activities in Ghana moving forward into 2015 and beyond. Effective targeting of high priority areas will help to focus exploration activity, maximize exploration success, as well as keep costs down. This exercise will also ensure that we can proactively manage the significant land position in country as a growth portfolio.

This work program is scheduled for completion for December 2014.
